Excellent Accessibility

Thanks to ongoing rail infrastructure improvements, access to St. Kanzian is becoming even more efficient and attractive for both domestic and international visitors. With the opening of the new ÖBB Koralmbahn and expanded services, travel times are significantly reduced:

  • From Graz to the nearby Kühnsdorf-Klopeiner See station in about 30–35 minutes.
  • From Klagenfurt by train in under 15 minutes.

Once at the regional station, a range of local buses and shuttle services connect travelers directly to St. Kanzian and surrounding destinations, offering flexible, eco-friendly mobility without the need for a car.

Natural Beauty & Outdoor Life

The location's charm begins with Klopeiner See, one of Europe's warmest alpine lakes, renowned for its clean water and inviting summer swimming opportunities. The lake's crystal-clear surface and gentle shoreline provide the perfect setting for relaxation, boating, or lakeside trails.

Beyond the main lake, a constellation of smaller lakes such as Turnersee and Kleinsee contribute to the region's extraordinary aquatic landscape, while shaded forests, rolling hills, and panoramic viewpoints invite exploration year-round.

Active & Leisure Experiences

The surrounding area offers a rich palette of outdoor activities that complement the wellness focus of Therme St. Kanzian. Nearby trails and paths suit all levels — from leisurely lakeside promenades to footpaths ascending toward ridge views — making the region a draw for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers alike.

The Drau River valley lies just beyond the lake region, forming a continuous green corridor that links Karinthian landscapes with broader Central European cycling and hiking networks, such as the renowned Drau Cycle Path — one of Europe's longest and most scenic cycling routes.
